1. Adjustable aperture for cellular phone camera


Super Small Adjustable Aperture


The camera for the cellular phone advances to a high pixel, and installing the adjustable aperture that controls quantities of light is hoped for. Thinness and the small size are the keys to installing. Our company developed a micro device by using the polymer actuator.

Super small Optical Image Stabilizer device


We realized microminiaturization taking advantage of the feature of a polymer actuator. The thickness of a device is 1.5mm, and a diameter can be arbitrarily changed with lens size.The principle of the hand swinging correction matches the angle of one lens to the movement of the hand swinging, moves instantaneously, and rectifying blur of a  picture. 1.0mm thickness and 7mm diameter are also possible for the size of a device, and it satisfies "SMIA" which is the specification of cellular-phone camera module from Nokia.

It is said that it becomes easy for the limit to exist in the miniaturization because the structure is complex, and for the problem to occur by the quality at the product if the voice coil motor and the piezo actuator that is an existing technology are used for the lens transportation, and the manufacturing cost rises, too.
Because our polymer actuator is "Simple structure to plate plastic", manufacturing can be easy and decrease a great cost. Moreover, power consumption decreases very much driving and fundamentally. Because the actuator is a film of 0.2mm thickness, the design by a size near the fixed focus lens device becomes possible.

The lens device of an existing cellular phone camera synchronizes a micro motor, a small cogwheel, and a small cam, etc. and moves the lens. It was necessary space that put the transportation parts, and had the limit in the miniaturization of the lens unit.
 
Our device need not use parts such as cogwheels and cams because it is moves the lens directly with the polymer actuator. Moreover, because the actuator can be set up in the space, the lens unit can be greatly reduced to the size.

The target value was set, and after the target value had by PID control,
the value was maintaned.
Consequently, it reaches 100 μm that are the arget values with 50 msec,
and it maintains t within the range of ±2 μm.

Zoom mechanism

The polarity of the actuator was reversed, and piled them up. The vertical movement stroke
can be efficiently taken out by an appropriate piling. It is possible to apply it also to vertical
movements other than the zoom mechanism.

2.Medical device (catheter, guide wire, others)

A tube actuator is applied to the catheter tip of 1mm diameter,and the actuator
tip can be bent in all directions under outside control of the body by the
electric lead wire. In interventional radiology, reaching the diseased part
after the blood vessel is selected, doing packing of the artery, and doing
concentrated administering etc. of anti-cancer drug easily and safely become
possible.
